A vulnerability was found in Xiph.org libvorbis up to 1.12 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the component Partition. Integer overflow in residue partition value (aka partvals) evaluation in Xiph.org libvorbis 1.2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted OGG file, which triggers a heap overflow.
The bug was discovered 05/14/2008. The weakness was published 05/16/2008 by Will Drewry with Google Security Team as Bug 440706 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-1420 since 03/20/2008. The attack may be initiated remotely.
