Details
A vulnerability was found in Vyperlang Vyper up to 0.5.0b1. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function parse_IfExp of the component Compiler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Vyper 0.3.8 through 0.5.0b1 contains a compiler miscompilation vulnerability in parse_IfExp that reads nested arrays with narrower inner bounds using the wider result type's memory layout. When a ternary selects the narrower array, inner arrays after the first are read at wrong offsets, causing contracts to silently store corrupted values or revert.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-114115 since 10/20/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
