Details
A vulnerability was found in Vyperlang Vyper up to 0.5.0b1. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function create_from_blueprint of the component Blueprint Creation. The manipulation of the argument code_offset with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Vyper 0.3.4 through 0.5.0b1 computes the remaining blueprint size in create_from_blueprint by uint256 subtraction without first checking that code_offset is below the blueprint's code size, so a huge offset wraps to a small positive value. An attacker controlling code_offset can make a factory deploy contracts with no runtime code, potentially trapping ETH and tokens.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-114118 since 10/20/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/21/2026).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
