A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in nzbget up to 0.2.2. This affects the function tempnam in the library uulib/uunconc.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a link following vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-59. The product attempts to access a file based on the filename, but it does not properly prevent that filename from identifying a link or shortcut that resolves to an unintended resource. uulib/uunconc.c in UUDeview 0.5.20, as used in nzbget before 0.3.0 and possibly other products, allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a temporary filename generated by the tempnam function. NOTE: this may be a CVE-2004-2265 regression.
