Details
A vulnerability was found in FireFTP 0.98. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in the FireFTP add-on before 0.98.20080518 for Firefox allows remote FTP servers to create or overwrite arbitrary files via ..\ (dot dot backslash) sequences in responses to (1) MLSD and (2) LIST commands, a related issue to CVE-2002-1345. NOTE: this can be leveraged for code execution by writing to a Startup folder.
