Details
A vulnerability was found in Roundcube Webmail up to 1.6.19/1.7.4. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function rcube_mime::decode_address_list of the component Bounce Action. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a crlf injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-93. The product uses CRLF (carriage return line feeds) as a special element, e.g. to separate lines or records, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CRLF sequences from inputs. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:
Roundcube Webmail before 1.6.20 and 1.7.x before 1.7.5 is affected by a mail header injection vulnerability in the Bounce (resend) action. rcube_mime::decode_address_list() did not strip control characters from the decoded display name, so a received message whose From display-name carries CRLF sequences in an encoded word could inject arbitrary headers into the message emitted when the user bounces it. Upstream fixed this in the commit “Fix mail header injection via the From display-name in the Bounce (resend) action”.
The advisory is shared for download at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-114726 since 10/22/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
