Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Roundcube Webmail up to 1.6.19/1.7.4. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code of the component Content Blocking. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a locking vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-667. The product does not properly acquire or release a lock on a resource, leading to unexpected resource state changes and behaviors. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Roundcube Webmail before 1.6.20 and 1.7.x before 1.7.5 is affected by a remote content blocking bypass. rcube_washtml inspected the SVG SMIL animation attributes `to`, `from` and values for URIs, but not `by`; so markup such as in an HTML message caused remote content to be loaded without the user's consent, disclosing the client IP address and confirming that the message was opened. Upstream fixed this in the commit “Fix remote-content blocker bypass via SVG SMIL `by` attribute”.

The advisory is shared at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-114729 since 10/22/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.

Upgrading to version 1.6.20 or 1.7.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
