Details
A vulnerability was found in FanRuan FineReport 9.0. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function design_save_svg of the file /WebReport/ReportServer of the component Design Save Svg. The manipulation of the argument filePath with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
FineReport 9.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the /WebReport/ReportServer design_save_svg operation that allows unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary files via the filePath parameter. Attackers can send a POST request with directory traversal sequences in filePath and a __CONTENT__ payload to write a JSP webshell and achieve remote code execution. Exploitation evidence was first observed by the Shadowserver Foundation on 2023-10-14.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2021-48014 since 10/14/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
