Details
A vulnerability was found in MongoDB C# Driver up to 3.12.x and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function FindOneAndReplace of the component Document Replacement Validation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. Impacted is integrity. CVE summarizes:
The MongoDB C# Driver does not reject replacement documents whose top-level field names begin with a dollar sign in FindOneAndReplace, unlike other replace operations. An application that builds such a document from user-supplied field names can have the server apply update operators instead of a full replacement. The effect is limited to the document matched by the application's own filter, whose contents can be modified in ways the application did not intend.
