Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the Command Line Interface process in the Server Agent in EMC AlphaStor 3.1 SP1 for Windows allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted TCP packets to port 41025.
The weakness was disclosed 05/29/2008 by Stephen Fewer (iDefense) with Harmony Security (Website). The advisory is shared for download at labs.idefense.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-2158 since 05/12/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
