CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.6.159/6.12.112/6.18.56/7.2.10 and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function ibmveth_open of the component ibmveth. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ibmveth: h_free logical LAN on open-fail after register ibmveth_open() registers the logical LAN, then allocates the RX buffer pools. A pool failure jumps to out_free_buffer_pools without h_free_logical_lan(), so PHYP still owns the buffer-list page when it is unmapped. request_irq() failure already issued the hypercall before taking the same label. Move that h_free to the shared post-register unwind so both paths deregister before the buffer list is unmapped.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-99045 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/23/2026). This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 6.6.160, 6.12.113, 6.18.57 or 7.2.11 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch decb4d4ead2c71ef698727734ab5024a872eb372/c54bbdf6f0731102a4bf7f5e4ee535b3ea415996/a065bd31ec462f6f9c267026b708dd020f122723/d24fdec1413c656d29298097926e77542785ca0c/af0524bf4ce1a4cbd2946aa81751582951cfcab5 is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
