Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Tokio-rs Tokio 1.54.0. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function tokio::time::Interval::poll_tick of the component Time Driver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Tokio is a runtime for writing applications with Rust. In 1.54.0, a race condition between tokio::time::Interval::poll_tick (including .tick().await) and the multi-threaded runtime's time driver could drop an internal timer entry without synchronizing with the driver thread that was firing it. The race caused a use-after-free on the timer's waker and task state in safe Rust, which could produce assertion panics, task reference-count corruption, or heap memory corruption. This issue is fixed in 1.54.1.

It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-115567 since 10/23/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy.
