Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in leon-ai Leon (unknown version). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function getModelFileNameFromURL of the component URL Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Leon before commit 50df142 contains a path traversal vulnerability in getModelFileNameFromURL() that allows attackers to write files outside the models directory via percent-encoded separators. Attackers can trick a user into running '/download model' with a crafted URL containing encoded '../' sequences to write attacker-controlled content to arbitrary paths writable by Leon.

The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-116073 since 10/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
