Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in boneIO up to 1.5.x. Affected is some unknown processing of the component API Endpoint. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-352. The web application does not, or can not, sufficiently verify whether a well-formed, valid, consistent request was intentionally provided by the user who submitted the request. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:
boneIO Black is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) on all state-changing API endpoints because it lacks CSRF tokens and does not validate Origin or Referer headers. A remote attacker can craft a malicious webpage that, when visited by a user on the internal network, sends cross-origin requests to the device. This allows the attacker to reboot the controller, toggle relay circuits, control gates and blinds, or shut down the device, causing loss of integrity and availability. Critically, due to CVE-2026-77053 (authentication disabled by default), any user on the same internal network can trigger attacker-controlled actions by visiting the malicious website. This issue was fixed in version 1.6.0.
The advisory is available at cert.pl. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-77058 since 08/20/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
