Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.56/7.2.10 btintel_pcie btintel_pcie_prepare_tx memory corruption

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.12.112/6.18.56/7.2.10. It has been rated as very critical. Affected by this issue is the function btintel_pcie_prepare_tx of the component btintel_pcie. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: btintel_pcie: fix TX descriptor bounds check btintel_pcie_prepare_tx() uses tfd_index to access the TFD and data buffer arrays before the index is advanced modulo txq->count. An index equal to txq->count is one past the end of both arrays, so reject it in the bounds check.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-99094 since 09/25/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/26/2026).

Upgrading to version 6.12.113, 6.18.57 or 7.2.11 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 08704ec6d4bf69725e7815b09a9b5c7af83e255b/39ab048cce70d50af48015f5f294c4cf80d6ba89/2669567615215d52fb306053cbcc1f53dc386158/baa53af641c9e3644e717b8dfd1b95a55a0c111b is able to eliminate this problem. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
