Details
A vulnerability was found in Hitachi Energy CoreTec 4 and CoreTec 5 (version unknown). It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component Time Synchronization Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An OS command vulnerability exists in CoreTec product that allows authenticated users with certain roles to execute arbitrary system commands with full control over the device. The vulnerability exists in the configuration daemon's time synchronization handler, which is responsible for setting the system time-zone. When processing time-zone configuration updates, the daemon constructs a shell command by concatenating user-supplied input without any sanitization or validation.
