Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Tainacan Plugin up to 1.3.0. Affected is the function fopen/fgetcsv of the component Importer. The manipulation of the argument tmp_file with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
The Tainacan plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Directory Traversal in all versions up to, and including, 1.3.0 via the 'tmp_file' parameter parameter. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with editor-level access and above, to read the contents of arbitrary files on the server, which can contain sensitive information. The poisoned importer path is persisted to the database and later triggered via a separate GET request to the /source_info endpoint, which passes the attacker-controlled path to fopen() and fgetcsv() and returns parsed file contents in the REST response.
The advisory is available at wordfence.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-104743 since 10/02/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
