Details
A vulnerability classified as very critical was found in Alpine iLX-F511 7.0.000. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Android Auto Connection Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Alpine iLX-F511 Android Auto Connection Handler Stack-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows physically present attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Alpine iLX-F511 devices. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the Android Auto connection handler. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of root. Was ZDI-CAN-29016.
The advisory is shared at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-118609 since 10/28/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally.
