Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in HTTP::Body up to 1.23_00. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Multipart Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a temp file vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-377. Creating and using insecure temporary files can leave application and system data vulnerable to attack. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
HTTP::Body versions before 1.23_01 for Perl leave the temporary file of an incomplete multipart upload on disk. The multipart parser creates a temporary file as soon as a file part starts, but adds it to the upload list only when the part completes. Uploads are only ever deleted from that list, by the cleanup option or by the caller, so a body that ends inside a file part leaves its temporary file where nothing can find it. A remote attacker can fill the temporary directory by repeating such requests, leaving one file behind for each.
The advisory is shared for download at rt.cpan.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2026-116132 since 10/25/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
Upgrading to version 1.23_01 eliminates this vulnerability.
