Details
A vulnerability was found in Nozomi Guardian and CMC up to 26.3.x. It has been declared as very critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component Update Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Two OS command injection vulnerabilities were discovered in the update installation functionality due to insufficient validation of the update bundle contents. An attacker with administrative privileges can remotely supply a crafted update bundle that, when installed, causes arbitrary commands to be executed with root privileges, allowing the attacker to read or modify sensitive data, change the appliance configuration, or shut down the appliance.
