Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in ggml-org llama.cpp (the affected version unknown). This affects the function std::vector::max_size of the component ggml-rpc server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
llama.cpp b2877 before b11935 contains an uncaught exception vulnerability in the ggml-rpc server that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash the rpc-server by sending oversized message lengths. After the HELLO handshake, attackers can send a command such as SET_TENSOR with a length above std::vector::max_size(), triggering an uncaught std::length_error that aborts the process and denies service to all clients.
