Details
A vulnerability was found in RT-Labs P-Net up to 1.0.2. It has been classified as very critical. Affected is the function get_check_peer. The manipulation of the argument LengthPeerStationName with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
P-Net before 1.0.3 does not validate the LengthPeerStationName field of a CheckPeers block in get_check_peer(). The received length (up to 255) was used to copy data into the 241-byte peer station name buffer and to place the terminating NUL byte, so a crafted block writes up to 15 bytes past the end of the buffer. This can lead to a crash (denial of service) or potentially arbitrary code execution. Requires establishment of session that needs ADJACENT network access.
The advisory is shared for download at rt-labs.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-111730 since 10/16/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 10/29/2026).
Upgrading to version 1.0.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
