Details
A vulnerability was found in Frappe up to 15.120.x/16.33.x and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code of the component File Upload. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Frappe before 15.121.0 and 16.x before 16.34.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability because certain file-upload handling does not validate the destination path before writing to disk. Authenticated attackers can upload crafted files to locations outside the intended storage directory to achieve remote code execution on the server.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-119145 since 10/29/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
