Details
A vulnerability was found in Spreadsheet::XLSX up to 0.18 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component ExcelFmt. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Spreadsheet::XLSX versions before 0.19 for Perl allow code execution via string eval of number format conditions in ExcelFmt. When a number format has a condition such as [>100], ExcelFmt chooses the format section by passing the condition and the cell value to a string eval. Both come from the workbook, and the eval runs while Spreadsheet::XLSX->new parses it. An attacker who supplies an XLSX file can run arbitrary Perl code.
