Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Blender up to 4.5.14/5.2.2. This affects the function ptcache_data_alloc of the component Point Cache. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Blender before 4.5.15 and 5.x before 5.2.3 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability caused by integer overflow in ptcache_data_alloc() when reading point cache files. Attackers can supply a crafted point cache file with a large totpoint value alongside a .blend file to crash Blender or execute code as the user.
It is possible to read the advisory at projects.blender.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-119718 since 10/30/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy.
