Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in immich-app Immich up to 3.1.x. Affected by this issue is the function SharedLinkService.create of the file server/src/services/shared-link.service.ts of the component Shared Link Creation API. The manipulation of the argument albumId/assetIds with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Immich is a high-performance self-hosted photo and video management solution. Prior to 3.2.0, the shared-link creation API accepted albumId and assetIds as independent fields in server/src/services/shared-link.service.ts but authorized only the resource selected by the requested link type. An authenticated attacker who already knew a victim-owned asset UUID could select SharedLinkType.Album for an attacker-owned album while supplying that UUID in assetIds; SharedLinkService.create() persisted the unchecked association in shared_link_asset and made the victim asset available through the new anonymous shared-link credential. This exposed victim metadata, thumbnails, and the byte-identical original file and created a persistent sharing relationship that could be redistributed. This issue is fixed in version 3.2.0.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-119330 since 10/29/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1548.002.
Upgrading to version 3.2.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
