Details
A vulnerability was found in Control Web Panel up to 1.29 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function restoreDBBackup of the file /v1/restoredatabase of the component Database Restore. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Control Web Panel (CWP) before webpanel_version 1.30 contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the loopback API database restore route /v1/restoredatabase/, where the restoreDBBackup() handler passes an attacker-controlled file path from the POST body into a shell command without proper escaping. An attacker able to reach the route can inject arbitrary OS commands that execute as root.
