Details
A vulnerability has been found in PostgreSQL psqlODBC up to 18.00.5 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function SQLBulkOperations/SQLStatistics of the component Server Data Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-125. The product reads data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
psqlODBC trusts counts and lengths in server data in three places. SQLBulkOperations uses a server-supplied row count in a size subtraction that can underflow. SQLStatistics iterates index keys using a server-supplied key count without bounding it to the fixed storage. Bytea octal decoding reads up to two bytes past the end of a truncated escape sequence. A server not trusted under current SSL settings can crash the client or make it read out of bounds. Versions before psqlODBC 18.00.0006 are affected.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-120060 since 10/30/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 18.00.0006 eliminates this vulnerability.
