Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Nexbox/Amlogic A95X and Android SDK (the affected version unknown). It has been rated as very critical. Affected by this issue is the function system of the file /dev/socket/pppoe_wrapper of the component pppoe_wrapper. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-77. The product constructs all or part of a command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

The pppoe_wrapper vendor daemon from the Amlogic Android SDK, as shipped on Nexbox A95X (Amlogic S905/S905X) TV boxes, contains a command injection vulnerability that allows local attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root by sending crafted messages to a world-writable AF_UNIX datagram socket at /dev/socket/pppoe_wrapper. Attackers can send a message beginning with 'pppd pty' followed by shell metacharacters and arbitrary commands, which are passed unfiltered to system(3) and executed by /system/bin/sh -c as root, resulting in full privilege escalation.

The advisory is available at mstreet97.github.io. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2026-119737 since 10/30/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
