Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Nagios Enterprises Nagios XI and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function install_mib of the file mibs.php of the component MIB Upload Feature. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Nagios XI before 2026R2 contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the MIB upload feature where the install_mib() function in mibs.php sanitizes uploaded filenames with an incomplete character deny-list that omits semicolons and pipes before passing them to a grep command executed via exec(). An authenticated administrator can upload a MIB file with a crafted filename using tab characters to bypass the deny-list and pipe to sh via a multipart POST request to mibs.php, resulting in arbitrary OS command execution as the web server user.
