Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in SurrealDB up to 3.2.x. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the component Network-Capability Matching. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
SurrealDB 3.1.0 before 3.3.0 contains a server-side request forgery vulnerability in network-capability matching because port-specific --deny-net rules (HOST:PORT or IP:PORT) match only a literal host string, while the resolved-IP check discards the port. Authenticated users can call http::* functions with a hostname resolving to a denied IP, or the IP of a denied hostname, to reach blocked internal services.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2026-121421 since 11/03/2026. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
Upgrading to version 3.3.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
