Details
A vulnerability was found in Elastic Packetbeat up to 8.19.23/9.4.8/9.5.5. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component AMQP Protocol Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
NULL Pointer Dereference (CWE-476) in the AMQP protocol parser in Packetbeat can lead to denial of service via specially crafted network traffic. An unauthenticated attacker who can send traffic on a network segment that Packetbeat monitors for AMQP can cause a Go runtime panic that terminates the Packetbeat process. A single crafted packet is sufficient. No AMQP authentication is necessary. While Packetbeat is not running, it does not collect network telemetry.
It is possible to read the advisory at discuss.elastic.co. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-115297 since 10/22/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy.
