Details
A vulnerability was found in OmniAuth up to 2.1.x. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Provider Callback URL Derivation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
OmniAuth is a flexible authentication system utilizing Rack middleware. Prior to 2.2.0, OmniAuth derives provider callback URLs from request-controlled host information when neither a fixed full_host nor framework-level incoming host validation is configured. A remote unauthenticated client can supply a forged Host header, creating a host header injection risk in applications whose web framework does not verify incoming host headers. Applications using appropriately configured Rails host authorization or a fixed full_host are not affected by this path. This issue is fixed in version 2.2.0.
