Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Apache OFBiz up to 24.09.07. This affects the function replaceImageToExistImage of the component Image Replacement Service. The manipulation of the argument productId/dataResourceNameExist/dataResourceNameReplace with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Path traversal and missing authorization check in the replaceImageToExistImage service in Apache OFBiz through 24.09.07 on all platforms allows a remote authenticated attacker with only Catalog view permission to overwrite arbitrary files writable by the OFBiz process with JPEG-encoded content via crafted productId, dataResourceNameExist, and dataResourceNameReplace parameters. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.08, which fixes this issue.
The advisory is shared at lists.apache.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-76150 since 08/19/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 11/05/2026). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
