Details
A vulnerability was found in SDL SDL_mixer up to 3.2.4. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function FetchXLaw of the file src/decoder_wav.c of the component WAV file Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-121. A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function). Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
SDL_mixer 3.1.2 through 3.2.4 contains a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in FetchXLaw() of src/decoder_wav.c when decoding A-law or mu-law WAV files. Attackers can supply a crafted WAV file whose doubly-offset float expansion overwrites about 1 KB of adjacent stack memory, causing crashes or potentially code execution.
