MariaDB up to 13.0.1 Partition Name privileges management

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in MariaDB up to 10.11.18/11.4.12/11.8.8/12.3.2/13.0.1. Affected is an unknown function of the component Partition Name Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

MariaDB server is a community developed fork of MySQL server. From 10.11.1 until 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2, ALTER TABLE ... CONVERT ... PARTITION does not apply filename encoding to user-specified partition names before using them in filesystem path construction. An authenticated database user can use a partition name requiring filename escaping to make the conversion operate on table files the user is not authorized to access, allowing unauthorized table reads or modifications. This issue is fixed in versions 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2026-102523 since 09/29/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

Upgrading to version 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3 or 13.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
