Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in SuiteCRM up to 7.15.1/8.10.1. Affected is the function html_entity_decode of the component Studio Dropdown Editor. The manipulation of the argument dropdown_name with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
SuiteCRM is an open-source, enterprise-ready Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software application. Prior to 7.15.2 and 8.10.2, the Studio Dropdown Editor passes $dropdown_name through html_entity_decode() and writes the result verbatim into a PHP language file under custom/ that is included on later page loads. An administrator can inject persistent PHP that executes as the web-server account, survives cache clears, and compromises application and host confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This issue is fixed in versions 7.15.2 and 8.10.2.
