Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in ImageMagick up to 7.1.2-34/6.9.13-59. This affects the function QueueAuthenticPixelCacheNexus of the file MagickCore/cache.c of the component SVG Decoder. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a infinite loop vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-835. The product contains an iteration or loop with an exit condition that cannot be reached, i.e., an infinite loop. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
ImageMagick before 7.1.2-35 and 6.9.13-60 contains an infinite loop vulnerability in the SVG decoder because QueueAuthenticPixelCacheNexus in MagickCore/cache.c fails to validate requested region width and height. Attackers can supply a crafted SVG image that repeatedly requests a non-advancing pixel region, consuming CPU and hanging the decoding worker.
The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-123273 since 11/05/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
