pavel-odintsov FastNetMon up to 1.2.9 IPv6 Top-Talkers Screen-Draw Thread src/fastnetmon_logic.cpp draw_table_ipv6 race condition

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in pavel-odintsov FastNetMon up to 1.2.9. This affects the function draw_table_ipv6 of the file src/fastnetmon_logic.cpp of the component IPv6 Top-Talkers Screen-Draw Thread. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-362. The product contains a concurrent code sequence that requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence operating concurrently. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:

FastNetMon is a high-performance DDoS detector and sensor. In version 1.2.9 and earlier, FastNetMon's IPv6 top-talkers screen-draw thread in draw_table_ipv6() in src/fastnetmon_logic.cpp iterates ipv6_host_counters.average_speed_map without holding counter_map_mutex while recalculate_speed() inserts new keys and may rehash the same map. The race requires networks_list to include the targeted IPv6 range. It causes confirmed undefined behavior under load; a process crash is plausible but was not observed, so reliable denial of service has not been established. No fixed release is available as of this review.

The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2026-92694 since 09/16/2026. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2026-117832). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
