Details
A vulnerability was found in Ericsson CodeChecker up to 6.29.2. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Session Management. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a session fixiation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-384. Authenticating a user, or otherwise establishing a new user session, without invalidating any existing session identifier gives an attacker the opportunity to steal authenticated sessions. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
CodeChecker's web server fails to fully invalidate a session token on logout when the server runs with more than one API worker process (the default). Each worker process maintains its own in-memory session cache; logout only clears the cache of the single worker that handles the request (plus the shared database record). Other workers continue to honor the destroyed token from their stale in-memory copies until the session's lifetime expires. An attacker who has captured a valid token can therefore keep impersonating the user after the user has logged out.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2026-84155 since 09/01/2026. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
Upgrading to version 6.29.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
