Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in open-wanderer Wanderer up to 0.19.x. This affects the function event.fetch of the file /api/v1/trail/download of the component Download Handler. The manipulation of the argument url with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Wanderer is a self-hosted trail database for saving and sharing adventures. Prior to 0.20.0, when PUBLIC_PRIVATE_INSTANCE is not set to true, the unauthenticated POST /api/v1/trail/download handler passes the attacker-controlled JSON url field directly to event.fetch() and returns the fetched response. This allows requests to internal services such as db:8090 and search:7700, cloud metadata addresses, and other network destinations, exposing returned data and permitting internal network reconnaissance or denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 0.20.0.
