The bug was discovered 07/15/2008. The weakness was disclosed 07/15/2008 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (Alexander) with Application Security, Inc. (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-2577 since 06/09/2008. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed in Python. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k.
