A vulnerability was found in NetBSD 4.0/5.0/5.0.1/5.0.2/5.1 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. Multiple stack consumption vulnerabilities in the kernel in NetBSD 4.0, 5.0 before 5.0.3, and 5.1 before 5.1.1, when IPsec is enabled, allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and panic) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted (1) IPv4 or (2) IPv6 packet with nested IPComp headers.
The weakness was disclosed 04/01/2011 by Tavis Ormandy (@taviso) with Google Security Team (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-1547 since 03/29/2011. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
