A vulnerability was found in Blue Coat Systems filter service 3.2.32. It has been rated as very critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the file k9filter.exe of the component Administration Interface. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the filter service (aka k9filter.exe) in Blue Coat K9 Web Protection 3.2.44 with Filter 3.2.32 allow (1) remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long HTTP Referer header to the K9 Web Protection Administration interface and (2) man-in-the-middle attackers to execute arbitrary code via an HTTP response with a long HTTP version field.
The weakness was disclosed 08/01/2008 by Carsten Eiram with Secunia Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-2952 since 05/31/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
