Stack-based buffer overflow in cgiRecvFile.exe in Trend Micro OfficeScan 7.3 patch 4 build 1362 and other builds, OfficeScan 8.0 and 8.0 SP1, and Client Server Messaging Security 3.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an HTTP request containing a long ComputerName parameter.
The bug was discovered 09/12/2008. The weakness was released 09/16/2008 by Dyon Balding with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-2437 since 05/27/2008. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
