Details
A vulnerability was found in Ruby on Rails (Programming Language Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown part of the component ActiveRecord. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in Ruby on Rails before 2.1.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) :limit and (2) :offset parameters, related to ActiveRecord, ActiveSupport, ActiveResource, ActionPack, and ActionMailer.
The bug was discovered 06/16/2008. The weakness was published 09/30/2008 (Website). The advisory is available at rails.lighthouseapp.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-4094 since 09/15/2008. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
