A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Anelectron Advanced Electron Forum up to 1.0.5 (Forum Software). This affects the function preg_replace. The manipulation of the argument email with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. Electron Inc. Advanced Electron Forum before 1.0.7 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via PHP code embedded in bbcode in the email parameter, which is processed by the preg_replace function with the eval switch.
The weakness was disclosed 11/14/2008 by James Bercegay with Gulftech (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-5090 since 11/14/2008. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
