Stack-based buffer overflow in the SetSource method in the NetCamPlayerWeb11gv2 ActiveX control in NetCamPlayerWeb11gv2.ocx on the Cisco Linksys WVC54GC wireless video camera before firmware 1.25 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via long invalid arguments.

The bug was discovered 01/03/2008. The weakness was disclosed 12/08/2008 by Greg Linares with eEye as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-4391 since 10/02/2008. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 07/25/2024).

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 340 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.

Upgrading to version 1.19 eliminates this vulnerability.
