A vulnerability was found in Kvm Qumranet KVM. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function protocol_client_msg of the file vnc.c. The protocol_client_msg function in vnc.c in the VNC server in (1) Qemu 0.9.1 and earlier and (2) KVM kvm-79 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a certain message.
The weakness was presented 12/24/2008 by Alfredo Ortega with CORE Security Technologies (Website). The advisory is available at redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2008-2382 since 05/21/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
