A vulnerability was found in WordPress Page Flip Image Gallery plugin up to 0.1 (Content Management System). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file getConfig.php. The manipulation of the argument book_id with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in getConfig.php in the Page Flip Image Gallery plugin 0.2.2 and earlier for WordPress, when magic_quotes_gpc is disabled, allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the book_id parameter. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was presented 12/22/2008 by GoLd_M (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at milw0rm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-5752 since 12/30/2008. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
